Castleberrys Athanasia
(Gwynfaes Culhwch x Bannockburn Belle by *Tuscani Dundee)
Foaled 06/05/07
This filly is the first offspring in North America by the amazing 2002 George Prince of
Wales Cup winner,
Gwynfaes Culhwch. She is everything we dreamed she would be. A
filly this extraordinary needed an extra special name.
Athanasia is derived from a Greek
word meaning "immortal", but more importantly it was the name of the ship that my
father served on in WWII.
Thank you Dad.
From day one we knew Athanasia was extraordinary. She keeps getting better everyday.
We are excited about her future and the future of our breeding goals as she is the first
foal we have produced out of a *Tuscani Dundee daughter.
NEWS FLASH!!!
Castleberrys Athanasia was awarded Grand Champion Cob under one judge and
Reserve Grand Champion Cob under the other judge at her very first show at the
Heartland Welsh Club when she was just 7-1/2 weeks of age! This means that she
placed over mature champion Cob stallions and mares and all ages present at a show
which is known for large Cob entries.  Castleberrys Athanasia is off to a great start!
Pictured here is Lisa's father on his 80th birthday, meeting Castleberrys Athanasia.
Just look how she's maturing! At the double judged 2009 Heartland Show Athanasia was
again awarded
Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Cob! The quality of entries was
very deep. There were no less than 5 other Cobs enetered among the many who had been
Supreme or Reserve Supreme Champions at previous Gold shows. Not bad for a 2 year
old filly!
