Castleberrys Chianti
(*Tuscani Dundee x *Tuscani Myfanwy by Derwen Duke of York)
DOB 03/25/08
If you're looking for conformation, trainability, bloodlines and movement, here is a mare with ALL of
the right stuff!
Chianti is a deep bodied and beautiful young mare that resembles both her imported champion sire and
dam in many ways, including their people-loving personalities. Chianti was bred for the performance ring
and has three, very good gaits. Her correct conformation, movement and beautiful type has already been
recognized and made her a champion in-hand at a very young age. At the tender age of two, Chianti had
a very successful year in the breed ring. At the Heartland Gold Show she was awarded Reserve
Champion Cob in strong, deep-quality Cob competition, by a judge who is herself, a USDF Grand Prix
rider . At the Fall Bronze Show, she went all the way to Supreme Champion! When Chianti was started
under saddle by the renowned clinician TJ Clibborn, her good breeding and disposition came through in
her acceptance and eagerness to please.
Chianti was sold as a 3 yr old to a wonderful person who dreamed of showing their own beautiful Welsh
Cob. Chianti's owner sent her to a reputable trainer, (Alyssa Boender, USDF competitor 2nd level and
also 2010 Reserve National Champion AQHA Congress Freestyle Reiner) who showed her in the Welsh
shows. Chianti was entered in the English Pleasure class. She was slightly nervous at this new
experience, but listened to and trusted her rider to win second place out of six entries; many who were
much more experienced than her. Chianti had the winter off, then returned to Alyssa in April, where she
has continued her education and is now, according to her trainer, going well enough to compete at USDF
Training Level. She is soft and light and has wonderful work ethic. Chianti's owner has had an honest
reality check and realized that she does not have time to ride, much less show Chianti. She enlisted our
help in marketing Chianti, which we happily agreed to. We
love this young mare and are happy and
proud that she carries the Castleberrys prefix.
A bit about this Chianti's breeding:
Chianti is an own daughter of the imported, ridden and in-hand champion Welsh Cob stallion,
Dundee.   Dundee is the 20 yr old sire of many Dressage, Driving and Breed champions and is no longer
standing at public stud. Chianti's imported dam, *
Tuscani Myfanwy is herself a champion in hand and
has proven herself to be a reliable riding mare even though she was only ridden in the ring one time
during her broodmare lease.
Click here to read a wonderful story that shows what a true ridden
champion Chianti's dam really is.
Chianti is only one of two
*Tuscani Dundee daughters for sale anywhere, as they are highly sought
after. She is the
only one of this breeding available for sale, as her full sister was retained, and her dam
returned to her owner upon the lease expiring.
Here is an opportunity that seldom comes along in the U.S. Don't miss it!
